Tilings

For tiling the images a small section of the drawing is copied and flipped or rotated to produce a unit cell of one of the wallpaper groups, some examples are shown below. Click on a tile to go to a page that uses that tile as the background.

- no symmetry - this image has reflection symmetry about horizontal and vertical lines drawn through the centre of the tile.
- this image has glide symmetry. The top left quadrant of the tile is copied to the bottom right quadrant. A copy of the top left quadrant that has been flipped horizontally is copied to the top right and bottom left quadrants. - this image has glide symmetry also.
- this image has a fourfold axis of rotational symmetry about the centre of the tile. - this image has glide + rotation symmetry
- this image has hexagonal symmetry - this image has trigonal symmetry
- this image has trigonal symmetry
